CNN —A ticket sold in California has won the $1.08 billion Powerball jackpot in Wednesday night’s drawing – among the largest in the game’s history, according to Powerball’s website. The ticket was sold at Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles, according to the California Lottery. Wednesday’s prize ranks as the seventh largest US lottery jackpot and third largest Powerball jackpot, behind the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won last year in California, and the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2016, according to the lottery. Though a single ticket won the jackpot, players are being advised to check their tickets on the chance they won one of the other prizes. “Congratulations to our newest Powerball jackpot winner and the California Lottery!” said Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director.

A Delaware woman won state lottery games twice last month, claiming her $400,000 in winnings in a single day, lottery officials said. The woman wasn't identified, as winners are allowed to remain anonymous under a law regulating state lottery play in Delaware, one of at least six states that allow anonymity for some or all winners. "It’s great to see our players bring home six-figure prizes," state lottery acting director Helene Keeley said in the statement. Monday night's estimated Powerball jackpot reached a world-record $1.9 billion. The jackpot ballooned after there were no six-number winners in Saturday night's drawing, Powerball officials said.
The Powerball jackpot now stands at a record $1.9 billion when it rolled Saturday night, after no ticket matched all six drawn numbers — white balls 28, 45, 53, 56, 69 and red Powerball 20. The record jackpot has narrowly edged out the previous high, a $1.586 billion prize won by three ticketholders in 2016. Despite there being no jackpot-winning ticket, more than 10.9 million tickets won cash prizes totaling $102.2 million in the Saturday, Nov. 5 drawing. Monday’s drawing will be the 41st Powerball drawing since the jackpot was last won on Aug. 3 in Pennsylvania. The only other Powerball jackpot run to reach 41 consecutive drawings ended on Oct. 4, 2021, with a $699.8 million winner in California.
With no immediate winners reported at Thursday's drawing, Saturday's Powerball jackpot grew to roughly $825 million, its second-largest ever. It would be the 37th time a Powerball drawing turned up no jackpot winner. "A Powerball jackpot this size has a lot of people dreaming big," Drew Svitko, group product chair of Powerball, said in the statement Saturday. The estimated $825 jackpot was the largest Powerball prize of 2022 so far, organizers said. On Aug. 3, a ticket in Pennsylvania matched all five white balls and the red Powerball to win the last Powerball jackpot to pay.
